Fozzy Tour Wilmington Show Review

Ron

Published

On Easter Eve, Fozzy and company tore down the Queen in Wilmington with their RockNRoll.

Opening up the show was Las Vegas band The Nocturnal Affair. This was my first time seeing the band and you can tell they have influences from bands like NineInchNails and TypeONegative. The band had really high energy and had some killer tunes too.

Next up was Jacksonville Florida’s GFM(GoldFrankincenseAndMyrrh). This trio of sisters are not only super talented but also just melt you face with their heavy music and kind hearts. Noted as creating “BeautyCore” GFM are high energy and infectious to watch, they just make you smile and make you want to mosh. With Songs like Bones, Graveyards of Identities, and RIP. I wanted the set to last even longer I couldn’t get enough of them. Empire Extreme got to talk to the ladies before their set. Check for that soon.

Fozzy was the headliner  and if you have been living under a rock for a few years, you should already know this band. Not only is the singer Chris Jericho (Yes the wrestler) but the full band just brings the energy that only a few bands I have seen before. Jericho’s voice is bad ass, and the riffs and licks and shreds are mind altering. With songs like Drinking with Jesus, Do you want to start a war, Judas. They even did a cover of “Relax” From Frankie goes to hollywood and “Dirty Deeds” by AC/DC.

Fozzy even played their newest single “I Still Burn”. Jericho at one time was armed with a fog gun and was shooting it all over the crowd. They had screens in the back that sometimes played clips from horror movies. I got to see Fozzy play at BlueRidge Music Festival last year, but this was my first time seeing the full set. From start to end you were fully engaged with the band. The crowd throughout the night kept chanting “Fozzy, Fozzy”.

This was such a bad ass show with amazing bands. If you get a chance to check them out on this tour, I would recommend it. It’s so great to have live music in full swing after the last two years. Do yourself a favor and go out and see this tour.

Ashes to Omens “Feed Me More”

Ashes To Omens are a band from Georgia who’s latest single “Feed Me More” has a great sound to it. It reminds me of bands around the mid to late 2000s. They have a good mixture of sound. The song is a perfect blend of hard rock and metal with the vocals very crisp and delivered with passion.

The song “Feed Me More” has a great melody and works well with the bands style and genre of music. It also is a great title to a song because after listening to it I wanted more of the band.

Some will say that it’s very radio rock/metal and sometimes I do have issues with that but I felt that this song even though it does have that feel to it, isn’t just a radio rock song for the sake of being a radio rock song. I think this single is worth a listen to and could possibly be a track that might make your playlist.

DEVILSKIN “Barracuda”

Anyone who knows me, knows I have a huge soft spot for the band “Heart”. Of course Barracuda is an amazing song and has been covered by other artists before and when it comes to those covers I’m very critical to the vocals, nobody can touch Ann Wilson’s vocals on that track but I always love to hear a great cover.
New Zealand’s DevilSkin cover is one of those that I feel is a top tier cover. Vocalist  JENNIE SKULANDER has an amazing voice and I feel that it works very well to this song. I love the heavy ending to the song, it gave it that heavy edge to it that most covers of the song don’t have.
If you’re a fan of the song, I would highly recommend checking out the video and giving this cover a listen.

Collective Soul “7EVEN YEAR ITCH” Greatest Hits 1994-2001 Vinyl

I’ve always been a big fan of Collective Soul and have been lucky to have seen them a few times. This band has always been in my music mixes since the 1990s.

The vinyl release is exactly what you would want for a greatest-hits album. All the best songs that collective soul had from 1994–2001 If you were a teenager or an adult in the 90s, you can’t tell me that you didn’t jam out to songs like “Shine,” “Gel,” and “December.”

With other great songs like “Heavy,” “Run,” “The World I Know,” and “Forgiveness,” This greatest hit album sounds amazing on vinyl as well. Craft Recordings has done a really great job of keeping the magic and sound of these amazing songs.

The sleeve cover has some cool photos of the band throughout the years. This vinyl just came out in Collective Soul fashion in December, and is ready to be part of your vinyl collection, and just brings you back to a great time in life.
