Lacuna Coil who just released their 9th album Black Anima on October 11th, came into Baltimore on the last day of the Disease of the Anima tour with Co- Headliners All That Remains. Empire Extreme sat down with Cristina before the show to talk about the album.

EE: Hows the tour been?

CS: The tour has been amazing, today’s the last day of the tour. Minus some problems we had with the busses and getting stuck in a snow storm. We got along with all the bands on the road.

EE: Yeah I seen that you guys got stuck in a snowstorm

CS: Yeah, our bus slid off the road, and the sheriff and patrol people from North Dakota came and got us and took us to a hotel and we got stuck there because all the roads were closed. We had a cancel a few shows.

EE: You guys just released your 9th studio album, Black Anima, hows the fan response?

CS: It’s been surprisingly well. You never know what the fans are going to think about it. It was amazing to get great feedback from old school fans and new fans.

EE: That’s kind of like the last album Delirium. I liked it to begin with but grew more and more on me and now I would say it’s my favorite album even better than Comalies.

CS: That’s surprised me. Its hard to say that a new record is my favorite from the ones in the past. I’m attached to the memories of the old music.

EE: I seen that you guys were bringing back the In-Stores Meet N Greets. How have those been?

CS: Today was great. We did them in the mall at the FYE. A lot of Vinyls. We have one that’s for charity that was a pink vinyl.

EE: I seen that you had a deluxe version that came with a book and Tarot Cards.

CS: Yeah those sold out. We are going to reprint them. We always loved the visual of the tarot cards. We thought it would be cool to create a new deck and that every song goes with each card.

EE: You guys put out a book last year, how was that?

CS: It was for our anniversary. It was a pain in the ass (laughs) I didn’t realize it took so much time to remember things in the past and it was fun we had a would remember things that we forgot. We didn’t have lots of stuff from the past. Hard to find photos Hard to find photos and figure out who took them to credit them, we had some flyers and posters. First logos and Contracts. I’m very happy on how it came out.

EE: When we talked before, we talked about Star Wars and You have the Scars makeup for this album, is that inspired by that any?

CS: No, it’s not connected. We started to play with makeup. I thought about the two scars initially because it was a tribute to the loss of my parents. Something that visualize the pain that I felt. It’s all sorta like a war paint as well. I seen lots of people with it in the crowd.

EE: If you could put a Lacuna Coil song in a time capsule and years later it discovered what song would you want to put in it?

CS: Hmm, I don’t know. Maybe from the last record “Veneficium”, we have done so many songs but I hope it brings them some good vibes.

Lacuna Coil came out on stage and from the beginning of the set till the end it was a nonstop roller coaster ride of entertainment. I’ve got to photograph Lacuna a few times and this time had to the best lighting they ever had, and the crowd was going crazy the whole time. Lacuna Coil put on such a good show and you can tell that they truly enjoy being there for the fans. Every time I see them, they just keep getting better and better. Such an amazing band.
