MultiTalented artist Dietrich Thrall who’s been killing in the scene as a producer, writer, founder of Beauty in the Suffering and bass player for Lords of Acid. Empire Extreme got to talk to Dietrich about his career and things into the future.

EE: When you guys came into Baltimore with Lords of Acid that was such a good lineup and Marieke was amazing on the vocals.

Dietrich: Yeah she something huh, she’s a firecracker. She’s got some soul in there too. Marieke comes from a metal background and Praga has an good ear for his female vocals.

EE: How did Beauty in the Suffering project come about?

Dietrich: It was a lot of ideas and stuff I had stocked piled when I was in the band Marazene Machine in Chicago. We did some tours with Mushroomhead and Wednesday 13, some regional stuff. I wrote a tons of stuff and we were stuck promoting the album we released and I was writing new material, our drummer passed away after we toured in 2007. I decided to go back to school and update myself on the new technology that were coming out with Pro Tools and other stuff. I took those songs I had and moved those into the BITS approach. I move quickly and most people don’t like to move as fast as I like to.

EE: You just got done doing a tour in Europe too?

Dietrich: Yeah I just did the tour in Europe. The band I went with was a death metal band but I’ve done tours before with industrial and Lords of Acid before in Europe.

EE: I seen you worked with Galen(drummer for Lords of Acid) again on your last project too.

Dietrich: We did a performance in a movie called Clown Motel out in Vegas. Galen and I just got off the Lords tour and I asked him to come out and shoot that with me. The performance that’s in the movie which is out now on amazon, Walmart and streaming sites. It was an amazing experience. The band was a stand out in the movie. The scene is a bachelorette party and a team of paranormal investigators, and they end up meeting clown motel but before they do we perform at the party. It’s in the beginning of the movie and set them on their way.

EE: Are you planning on doing a tour with Beauty in the Suffering or doing another album?

Dietrich: That’s the goal. There’s been a few close calls and came close to take them back out in there road. I’m going through offers to do something in the fall and Lords plans on touring in March. But with the album I’m very obsessive about it and I like to take my time and get it done as well as I can and I’m looking for the right producer for it.

EE: If you could go on a Dream tour who would you want to tour with?

Dietrich: Are we talking alive or dead?

EE: Let’s go with Alive for now.

Dietrich: I’ll pick 3 bands to go out on tour with. HIM, I’m a big HIM fan. I’ve been digging the new Ghost album and think they would be cool to do stuff with and Rammstein.

EE: What about a band you could bring back from the dead or musician?

Dietrich: It depends if it’s bringing them back or going back in time. Prince is my number one. David Bowie. If you’re going back in time it would be Motley Crue back when they were playing on the strip. If you want to get crazier and go back even further in time would be some Beethoven.

It was great to talk to Dietrich again, he always puts on a hell of show when he comes around and is always talking and interacting with his fans. I can’t wait till he comes around again. http://www.beautyinthesuffering.com
