Interview with Dylan Villian of The Wild
The Wild, who hail from British Columbia are on tour right now with Steel Panther. Today in Baltimore is the first show of this leg of the tour. Empire Extreme got to sit down and talk to singer Dylan Villain about the tour and life in general.
EE: Before we started you were saying how you just got done driving 50+ plus hours to get here.
DV: Yeah first show of the tour, we haven’t played Baltimore in a while and it’s great to be back with Steel Panther.
EE: So being a band from Canada, have you ever had any issues with getting your Visas?
DV: yeah we definitely had, last year we had to miss a few shows, we err held up. They wanted more information about the band to get the visas. We have had some issues but not as much as some of the other bands. The cool thing was we’re playing Welcome to Rockville in Jacksonville and they were accommodating and gave us a different set time, we drove 30 some hours and then walked right onto the stage. That news circulated around and we had people coming up to us. We ended up hanging out with Dave Grohl.
EE: How’s the music scene in BC?
DV: It’s cool man, the sorta rock that we play isn’t playing that much around there. We just love to play hard and play with heart.
EE: You have played with Steel Panther before any crazy tour stories you’d like to share?
DV: Absolutely not (both laugh) naw we have a good time with those guys. We have played lots of great shows and we all get along.
EE: How did the names for the band members come to be?
DV: We all have been playing in bands for so long, The Wild has been a band for 5 years and been in other bands.
EE: There is a children’s book that has the same name as Dylan the Villian?
DV: oh yeah, I’ll have to check that out and get my residuals (laughs)
EE: How did the denim vests get started as for the band?
DV: Hanging out with Motorcycle Clubs in Canada, being around that and they all love rock and roll, we ride and the two work well together. We didn’t go out to do it, some bands just do it or is really about that life. We are a crew together, if you’re wearing one you earned it.
EE: Are you guys working on any new Material?
DV: Yeah, man we are it’s really good, it’s going to be a while since we on the road, it’s a good record and a hard record. We toured in Europe and seeing how the fans there and how the respond to certain riffs and just worked on it from that.
EE: What band would you like to see reunite?
DV: I would like to see Guns and Roses with either Matt or Steven and with Izzy as well.
EE: If you can bring back one dead musician who would it be?
DV: That’s tough, I feel like the persons impact after they died. Like with Kurt Cobain would it have been the same without him dying, after he did it made everyone look deeper into him as an artist and his lyrics. If I had to choose one it would be Bonn from AC/DC or Dime from Pantera.
EE: Anything you like to say to the fans?
DV: We are just stoked to be back in America, if you see one of the dates that we are on, check us out and you can message us on social media as well.
The Wild came on stage and brought just a kick ass rock n roll show. This is how a rock band should be. With killer songs and killer denim vests, The Wild is a force to be reckon with in the music industry. Such an amazing band to see live, after the set the band went over to the merch table and met with all the fans to take photos and sign stuff. Just making this band even cooler knowing how down to earth and great they are with the fans. I can’t wait to get to see them again and again.
