Interview with Granny 4 Barrel
GRANNY’S TIRED OF GETTING RAN OVER BY A REINDEER. THIS GRANNY IS PACKING A SHOTGUN AND THE POWER OF HEAVY METAL!!!!
Granny 4 Barrel is a band from NY, but looking at them you would think different, With aspects of Steam Punk infused with industrial , metal and hillbilly rock. Granny takes you by the balls and doesn’t let go. Empire Extreme got to sit down and talk to Granny herself and ask some of the questions that have plagued mankind for ages.
Empire: So Granny what is your full name, if I can ask ya?
Granny: My name is Granny 4 Barrel
Empire: Why did you choose metal?
Granny: Why did I choose it? It’s in my blood. I mean Heavy Metal you can’t go wrong.
Empire: Who inspired you to get on the stage and rock out?
Granny: Well I’m old school, the bands I enjoy are 70s and 80s Metal bands like Priest,Sabbath,Maiden, AC/DC.
Empire: You are looking young and spruce and running around the stage. Did you find the fountain of youth?
Granny: Yes I did, It’s Heavy Metal. That’s the fountain of youth. That’s one point I try to get across that you’re never to old for rock n roll. When I get up on stage I’m ageless, although I may resemble an old woman.
Empire: How did you find your much younger band mates?
Granny: That’s what you need when you’re an old woman, you need some young whippersnappers. Just like Alice Cooper has on both sides of him.
Empire: Most bands get groupies, does Granny get the groupies as well?
Granny: Granny gets whatever she wants (Laughs)
Empire: What kind of Shotgun gauge do you prefer?
Granny: Well my preference is a 10 gauge, they don’t make 8 gauges anymore, that’s an elephant gun, but you see them at gun shows once in a while. I like a 10, a 12 is nice, even a 20 lacks a little punch. How about yourself?
Empire: I prefer the 10 gauge myself too.
Granny: You like going to the chiropractor, tear your rotator cup with a 10.
Empire: Grandmas are always about pulling on cheeks and kissing. Any musician Granny want to kiss?
Granny: Well I’ve always be fond of Rob Halford (Laughs) I don’t know, you’re looking kind of cute yourself
Empire: Uhhh thanks granny
Granny: (Laughs) Big Daddy Rich, we can’t forget about him too. He gets on stage every night saying he’s trying to get my number and scoping on me.
Empire: If you had to choose a Tag Team Partner out of Mamma from Mammas Family, Edith Bunker from All in the Family or Sophia from Golden Girls. Who would it be?
Granny: Oh man I would pick Edith Bunker. She would fucking kill you with her voice. That screeching voice I would win every time with her as my partner.
Empire: How do you keep your vocals so nice and young?
Granny: I drink a little bit of whiskey. I’m a mix. I’m in shape but I also know how to party. You got to take care of your voice. I don’t have an alcohol soaked voice, I like to sing the high notes.
Empire: What type of whiskey you into?
Granny: We like the homemade kinds of alcohol, we got lots of that with us on this tour. We got that homemade moonshine. High Octane Rootbeer is that we call it. ( Granny later gave me a taste of the moonshine and it was delicious)
Empire: Anything you like to say to the fans before you go?
Granny: I would just like to say, thanks to you for coming up here and Interviewing granny. Be on the lookout for Granny. I want to say one last thing about what I represent. I represent the ultimate of freedom of expression, I want the kids out there to learn to love themselves, because if you love yourself, you’re less likely to judge others and then everyone can be authentic and the world. The world is better if everybody is who they are suppose to be. That’s what I’m trying to get across and I’m having a good time doing it.
Granny 4 Barrel was amazing to see live. How often do you get to see a Granny rock out to heavy metal and sing the high notes like Judas Priest. Also how often do you see a Violinist dressed in full steam punk attire rocking out as well. From the stage show theatrics to the music and lyrics. Granny 4 Barrel is the next big thing. Go out and check this band now, because soon Granny is going to be amongst the greatest in the biz.
