Interview with Kim Dylla of Fulton Ave
Kim Dylla the multi-talented artist whose was once with Gwar as Vulvatron and now has a new band out called Fulton Ave talks with Empire Extreme about the new band and all other projects that she’s been up to.
EE: So do you want to talk about the new project Fulton Avenue
Kim: Fulton Avenue is a death metal band that my drummer from Bella Morte, He hit me up with these songs. We sing songs about murdering hookers, drink some beer, it’s a feel-good project (laughs)
EE: Do you guys have an album out or anything?
Kim: We have an EP, we sell it out at the shows, we are working on a full release, we just finished writing it and still have to record it.
EE: How many shows have you guys done since forming the band?
Kim: We have been playing shows for about 2 years now around the mid-Atlantic region, we haven’t done a full tour yet. Once we finish the album and get promotions for that.
EE: How was it like doing Vulvatron and working with the Gwar guys?
Kim: I have no complaints about my time with gwar, there’s some stupid internet drama, but I feel that happens when it’s a break up. I’m grateful for that experience and got to pay tribute to my dead friend.
EE: Were you friends with Dave Brockie (Oderus)?
Kim: Yeah he was a good friend and drinking buddy, he was supportive of my bands and we got to play GwarBQ.
EE: You have a clothing line as well?
Kim: Yeah I dress most of the bands in metal and some in the WWE, it’s pretty much my full time job. It started as a hobby and kinda blew up. Joey Jordison from Slipknot was one of the first, then Rob Flynn from MachineHead, Cradle of Filth, I’ve been doing it for about 6 years now. It filled a niche, nobody was making adorable clothing for bands that also was comfortable. I knew that it was what people wanted.
EE: Was there anyone you did clothes for that geeked u out?
Kim: King Diamond, I got to dress the Abagail Tour and I’m a huge King Diamond fan. Alice Cooper, my Friend Nita plays guitar for him, and they asked me to make some clothes for the stage show. I was just helping Judas Priest on some stuff, so hopefully they will wearing that in the future.
EE: You said you also do it for wrestlers too?
Kim: Yeah we dress Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, The Bludgeon Brothers, Ruby Riot, Chris Jericho and his band Fozzy and we did Randy Orton at Wrestlemania a few years ago.
EE: Were you into wrestling ?
Kim: I was a fan when I was a kid back in the 80s and I was a professional wrestler for a while with Richmond Lucha Libre.
EE: You also do a lot of Art work as well?
Kim: Yeah I make photo realistic oil paintings of High Energy Physics equipment. It’s been a while since I’ve done those, the bands and the clothing line pretty much make up most of my time.
EE: I seen that you did some stuff with Velvet Acid Christ, how was that?
Kim: Yeah I did a European tour with them, that was fun I got to play keyboards which I haven’t done in a long time. I’m also working with an industrial band from DC called Mindless Faith I’m on some of their album that will be coming out soon.
EE: If you could see a band reunite, who would it be?
Kim: Hmm, maybe Dismember or on the other side of the spectrum maybe Led Zepplin, they did that one celebration day. I like to see them do something like that.
