GRAVES RETURNS ON AN EPIC NIGHT OF MUSIC

Michale Graves came back into Baltimore bringing along with him Argyle Goolsby and Nim Vind. Empire Extreme got to sit down once again and talk to Graves about life on the road and the journey so far.

EE: How’s the tour so far?

MG: The tour has been going real good, exceeding exceptions. I started in September and we are at the end now. Lots of stuff has gone down in the past months. The fans are great, I’ve seen a lot of young kids. Neo Punks If you will, they don’t quite understand the punk that I listened to but are starting to get into the scene. They love the live show, I’ve seen more fans that are rooted in rock and roll, and fans that haven’t seen me since the Misfits days back in 97-98.

EE: Any plans on a new album?

MG: I have so much unworked music in my back log, but with my busy schedule and tour and then my obligations with my family it’s tough, I need my space to write and work on with that. I have some ideas that I’m working on. I plan on releasing something in July.

EE: Last time I interviewed you, I completely forgot to talk to you about the album you did with Damien Echols, how was that experience?

MG: it was great, one of the highlights of my career. To be able to create in that mode. We never spoke till he got out, so we just communicated through letters, it was an amazing thing for Damien and for me. I’m constantly surprised on the impact that record had on people. When I was out in LA, Jason Baldwin just happened to be out there and came to the show. We got to hang out and meet his people who are part of his non-profit helping innocent people get out of jail called Proclaim Justice.

EE: Did you get to meet Jessie?

MG: I did, I met him when they first got out in NYC at the premiere of Paradise Lost 3.

EE: What’s been your favorite tour?

MG: For personal reasons I would say this one and the European tour. I set personal goals for myself when I meet them and exceed them it’s uplifting to me. To remain healthy and strong and my voice is stronger and better. I feel better.

EE: Do you have a favorite song that you did when you was with the Misfits?

MG: I always think of Fiend without a face, or No more Moments. I always say Fiend without a face because it was so out of the box for a Misfits song, I remember being in the studio and cheerleading them on because it was so different and it was a sign post for what the band could have gone.

EE: What about solo song?

MG: I really love, Life without Soul. I’m always impressed on that song, it was a sleeper song but when I look back at it, it’s one of my favorite songs.

EE: So when you came into the Misfits you were obviously doing songs that Danzig did, when you left the band and the band reunited, do you know if Danzig and them are doing baby songs that you wrote while in the band?

MG: No Way (laughs) How fucking cool would that be. I don’t care how much the tickets would be for that I would go. I would be all for it.

EE: Anything that you want to talk about to the fans that you’re working on?

MG: I’m working on the live show, The acoustic show, I’m working on films that I want to make and videos. I want to less in front of the camera and be the guy behind the scenes. I’m expanding my brand, looking into the CBD market. Mind, Body and Soul products that I take to better myself. I’m working on my book that I will eventually finish one day, and a new record for the summer and all the touring that will be coming up.
