Interview with Nikki Misery of New Years Day
New Years Day is not just another useless holiday, it’s also a kick ass rock band that pushes the boundaries of rock/pop/punk/and Metal.
Empire Extreme got to talk to guitarist Nikki Misery about the tour with Falling in Reverse and Ice Nine Kills, the newest album and all others things NYD related.
EE: You just got done with your set, how’s was it?
NM: The crowd needed a kick in the ass, they needed to wake up. This isn’t Starbucks and we’re not serving coffee, it’s a rock show and you need to wake up.
EE: Hows the tour going so far, I’ve seen a lot of sold out shows?
NM: The tour is going awesome, as long as people want to see us play, the fact that I get to come out and do this. I couldn’t be happier.
EE: You guys just released the new album Unbreakable.
NM: Yeah I’m super stoked about it. I couldn’t be more proud of this record. We put out Shut Up and everyone bitched that it was a pop song. I was like you only heard one song, the Album is amazing.
EE: You guys just released the new video today as well.
NM: Yeah, it’s inspired by American Psycho and was directed by Jose Mangin from Sirius XM Liquid Metal. It was so much fun making the video.
EE: Hows it like working with Ash?
NM: It’s so awesome, she just a visionary and knows what she wants.
EE: Do you have a favorite tour so far?
NM: Probably this last past one with In this Moment and Halestorm. Such awesome people to be around. Them and the crew were so great. The nicest people, such a family vibe.
NM: I think maybe John Lennon, we need someone with such political fight in them and being so close to DC as we are now. Someone who’s outspoken and such a revolutionary.
EE: If you could bring back one dead musician, who would it be?
EE: Anything you want to say the fans?
NM: Go out and buy Unbreakable if you haven’t already. I Actually heard this on the Internet that if you buy the Unbreakable album your cool points will go up like 3 or 4.
EE: If it’s on the Internet, it has to be true.
New Years Day put on a hell of a show, it’s always great to see them and the band will be back in Baltimore at the end of June at the Soundstage, so if you haven’t seen this band yet, get off your ass and go check them out.
