3 Headed Snake is a new band that Sin Quirin from Ministry started. Adding Johnny Ray at vocals, Cesar Soto on guitars, DV Karloff on bass and Derek Abrahams on Drums.

Empire Extreme got to talk to Sin about the project and talk about the upcoming Ministry tour and more.

EE: So let’s talk about 3 Headed Snake. How did that project come together?

Sin: It started a little over two years ago, I written a hand full of songs with the specific style in mind. I set out to find that type of singer and took to the internet and found Johnny in Florida. I sent him out a couple of tracks and the first one was Wisdom Screams which we did a video for and put out a single for. It took a while because of touring with Ministry and only having small breaks.

EE: So you were always thinking about that vocal style from the beginning?

Sin: Yes, pretty much so. The reason I wrote songs like that was I reconnected with one of my old singers and he was the catalyst to start this. We wanted to do some old school type of stuff. He had some health issues and couldn’t sing anymore so I was left with the music and started looking for a singer.

EE: Yeah when I watched the video I wasn’t prepared at all for those vocals. (Both laugh) I loved it but was way different from what I was expecting the vocals for your band to be.

Sin: For the most part that’s been the response we have gotten. People hear about and I’m associated with it they think of Ministry and that industrial vocals and I understand it. That’s the type of reply we have been getting. Overall it’s be a positive response.

EE: You guys released an EP for it?

Sin: Yeah we just released it a few weeks ago, and we did a run of 100 copies and sold out already. They were signed by me and Johnny and came with a 3 headed snake guitar pick, we sold out of them in a week which we weren’t expecting at all. I thought maybe we would sell 20. We still have the 5$ digital download on our bandcamp and the single Wisdom Screams is available on iTunes and Spotify.

EE: Any plans on doing a full album?

Sin: The goal is to do a full album by 2019 and do some shows and possible touring. I’ve talked to some people about doing some stuff in Europe for the festivals in the summer. We have worked on some material and want to release a full length album.

EE: Are you planning on doing Europe first because of the style of music and how Europeans love them some power metal?

Sin: I agree, whether we do it in the states before but we are focusing on Europe they love this type of metal and have festivals designed just for it. In the past I would overlook the Europe stuff but I want to hit that up.

EE: How was it like making the video for Wisdom Screams? It’s a very visual video

Sin: Thank you, I reached out to my friend Matt Zane from Society 1. He knocked it out of the park. I wanted it to be a performance video to introduce the band and add some people head banging and some fire performers. Wanted it to remind of the old videos from HeadBangers Ball.

EE: Are you all excited and ready for the second leg of the Ministry tour?

Sin: Yeah man, we start rehearsals in about 2 weeks and start  first show on November 21st through Dec 21st. I’m looking forward to it.

EE: Have you had any backlash from the Trump Supporters from the latest album?

Sin: Not Anything our of ordinary, we get a lot of keyboard warriors who talk shit online. We always release an album and get shit for it.

EE: Yeah I talked to Tony Campos about it before and we are like have you listened to Ministry before ? (Both laugh)

Sin: They act like it’s a new thing that Ministry is political.

EE: Any plans on a follow-up album?

Sin: That’s what Al keeps saying that he wants to make a new album. I don’t have any word yet if that’s true, but he’s been doing interviews that he wants to.

EE: What’s your favorite song on that album?

Sin: Probably the first one that I wrote turned into Twilight Zone.

EE: How was it like working with Society 1?

Sin: I was with them for 6 years, the first band I got my record deal with. We were on HeadBangers Ball and all the metal magazines. We had a crazy time with the band.

EE: Yeah I got to see a few shows and they were always so much fun and entertaining.

Sin: Awesome man, thank you. We loved to push buttons on stage and the kind of band we were.

EE: Yeah I was talking to someone the other day about singers with crazy mic stands nowadays and remember that Matt Zane’s Cock stand was one of the first and craziest ones I’ve seen.

Sin: I thought that was pretty original for back then. It was very controversial.

EE: If you could bring back one dead musician who would it be?

Sin: I would say Jimmy Hendrix. I never got to see him.

EE: If he was alive how do u think he would have went through his career?

Sin: I think he would have went into different styles of playing. He was headed towards jazz and had such artistic abilities that he would have pushed his boundaries of music.
