NightWish Baltimore Show Review

DAMN THESE EUROPEAN POWER METAL WOMEN HAVE SUCH AMAZING VOICES

Nightwish came into town for the Decades Tour through america. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen Nightwish but throughout that absence, this band hasn’t stopped entertaining me for many years. I first arrived at the venue and this being my first time there I was pleasantly surprised how big and nice this place was. I get to my seat and get ready to start my photographing the band, checked out the setlist which was a whopping 17 song setlist. So I knew I was in for an amazing show.

I had to laugh because right before the band came into the stage, they played a video message about not recording the show and enjoy it like we use to years ago, and while that was playing everyone was on the phone recording it.

Troy Donockley came out first while playing an array of wonderful instruments from a uilleann pipe( which was must like a bagpipe but didn’t have to use your mouth to inflate bag) and a long whistle type thing which was crazy. He also at one time had a bouzouki that he played. It was just amazing to see the talent he had.

Bassist Marco Hietala with his long flowing golden hair and beard was playing a double guitar and bass combo which was insane looking. Keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen was entertaining all night as well with his dual keyboards, top hat, and head banging all set.

Singer Floor Jansen looked amazing and those pipes she has are just stellar. I swear her voice is as close and an angel as one can get. She was always engaging with the crowd and just seemed to look like she was having so much fun on that stage tonight.

As for the setlist, it was compromised of pretty much the greatest hits album Decades, which spans from 1996-2015. They played for close to 2 hours and just was killing it song after song. Playing some of my favorite tracks like “I want my tears back”, “Nemo”, and “The Carpenter” I would have to say my favorite songs they played tonight was definitely either “The greatest show on earth” which they played the full songs which is about 24 minutes or so. And my all time favorite Nightwish song “ Slaying the Dreamer”.

The show was amazing, the sound at the lyric was on point. The band was just making it such a great night to be alive and listen to some killer tunes. The crowd was very diverse I seen young kids to grandmas and grandpas at the show all having a good time and enjoying Nightwish. I can’t wait to see this band again, but this time I won’t let it be so long in between.

Ashes to Omens “Feed Me More”

Ashes To Omens are a band from Georgia who’s latest single “Feed Me More” has a great sound to it. It reminds me of bands around the mid to late 2000s. They have a good mixture of sound. The song is a perfect blend of hard rock and metal with the vocals very crisp and delivered with passion.

The song “Feed Me More” has a great melody and works well with the bands style and genre of music. It also is a great title to a song because after listening to it I wanted more of the band.

Some will say that it’s very radio rock/metal and sometimes I do have issues with that but I felt that this song even though it does have that feel to it, isn’t just a radio rock song for the sake of being a radio rock song. I think this single is worth a listen to and could possibly be a track that might make your playlist.

DEVILSKIN “Barracuda”

Anyone who knows me, knows I have a huge soft spot for the band “Heart”. Of course Barracuda is an amazing song and has been covered by other artists before and when it comes to those covers I’m very critical to the vocals, nobody can touch Ann Wilson’s vocals on that track but I always love to hear a great cover.
New Zealand’s DevilSkin cover is one of those that I feel is a top tier cover. Vocalist  JENNIE SKULANDER has an amazing voice and I feel that it works very well to this song. I love the heavy ending to the song, it gave it that heavy edge to it that most covers of the song don’t have.
If you’re a fan of the song, I would highly recommend checking out the video and giving this cover a listen.

Collective Soul “7EVEN YEAR ITCH” Greatest Hits 1994-2001 Vinyl

I’ve always been a big fan of Collective Soul and have been lucky to have seen them a few times. This band has always been in my music mixes since the 1990s.

The vinyl release is exactly what you would want for a greatest-hits album. All the best songs that collective soul had from 1994–2001 If you were a teenager or an adult in the 90s, you can’t tell me that you didn’t jam out to songs like “Shine,” “Gel,” and “December.”

With other great songs like “Heavy,” “Run,” “The World I Know,” and “Forgiveness,” This greatest hit album sounds amazing on vinyl as well. Craft Recordings has done a really great job of keeping the magic and sound of these amazing songs.

The sleeve cover has some cool photos of the band throughout the years. This vinyl just came out in Collective Soul fashion in December, and is ready to be part of your vinyl collection, and just brings you back to a great time in life.
