P!NK Pittsburgh Show Review
Paint the city P!NK

Even though Pittsburgh is known for their love of black and gold, there was one color that stood out just a bit more this past Saturday night, as “The Bucket” (PPG PAINTS ARENA) turned a rockin shade of P!NK. Even though the color itself was included in several aspects of the show, I’m more specifically talking about Alecia Moore, better known by her stage name: P!NK.
Opening the show with “Get This Party Started” P!NK definitely starts the show off with a bang, as she enters the stage swinging on a huge chandelier, with her talented dance team performing a routine below her, to which she eventually joins herself. This was one of the several times aerial routines throughout the show, others including parts of her dance team dangling above her as they hung from umbrellas, or as P!NK decided to give everyone a front row view as she flew around the entirety of the arena as she performed one of her other major hits “So What”.
Now I know what your thinking, these songs aren’t from her latest album Beautiful Trauma, which the entire tour is titled after, but fear not, there was a fair amount of songs from both her latest album as well as older albums such as The Truth About Love, or Funhouse, and she also even made sure to include a cover of Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”. So yes, there was a fair amount coverage for all fans, whether new, those who have been in for the long haul, or those who were just there to have a good time no matter the music selection.
Let’s talk sets for a few minutes. No I’m not talking about music sets, or drum sets, but physically the sets that make up the actual stage. As I mentioned before, there was a bright pink and silver chandelier, along with equally bright pink lamp posts. In between set piece changes, there was a digital screen behind everything, allowing bright, vibrant projections to take over as the back set for several songs, as the next physical set was set up, a mythical type forest scene. The transition was nothing more than what I can describe as calm and tranquil, playing cricket sounds as the tree branches appeared, along with the dance team, who had transformed into woodland type characters. It was used for several songs, including another hit song, “Try.”
If I were to try to cover everything else that went on during this action packed evening, I would be here forever, so lets focus on one more aspect on the show and call it a night. Now it’s fairly well known that P!NK is known for having a strong love for building women up and encouraging them to express their own unique selves, and that was not different Saturday night, as a slideshow of different moments in history where women overpowered different obstacles played behind her while she spoke about the subject. She also took time between two different songs, to introduce each member of her team on stage, the musicians and dance team each individually, with digital slides to go along with each one. What about the rest of the people involved with the tour you ask? They were all included in a movie credit like ending at the very end of the show, as the party came to a close.

Them Damn Kings “Shown With A Fist”
Them Damn Kings from NJ just released a new single “Shown With a Fist”.
If you like your music in your face with a touch of old school rock and roll this is the band for you. It’s got gritty vocals and pounding drums adding in some killer guitar shreds.
It’s a song that you listen to when you want to get into a bar fight or want to drive your car really fast down the highway.
It’s worth a listen, check out the lyric video below with a little bonus guitar mortal kombat shred off.

Ashes to Omens “Feed Me More”
Ashes To Omens are a band from Georgia who’s latest single “Feed Me More” has a great sound to it. It reminds me of bands around the mid to late 2000s. They have a good mixture of sound. The song is a perfect blend of hard rock and metal with the vocals very crisp and delivered with passion.
The song “Feed Me More” has a great melody and works well with the bands style and genre of music. It also is a great title to a song because after listening to it I wanted more of the band.
Some will say that it’s very radio rock/metal and sometimes I do have issues with that but I felt that this song even though it does have that feel to it, isn’t just a radio rock song for the sake of being a radio rock song. I think this single is worth a listen to and could possibly be a track that might make your playlist.

DEVILSKIN “Barracuda”
Anyone who knows me, knows I have a huge soft spot for the band “Heart”. Of course Barracuda is an amazing song and has been covered by other artists before and when it comes to those covers I’m very critical to the vocals, nobody can touch Ann Wilson’s vocals on that track but I always love to hear a great cover.
New Zealand’s DevilSkin cover is one of those that I feel is a top tier cover. Vocalist JENNIE SKULANDER has an amazing voice and I feel that it works very well to this song. I love the heavy ending to the song, it gave it that heavy edge to it that most covers of the song don’t have.
If you’re a fan of the song, I would highly recommend checking out the video and giving this cover a listen.
