The Godbombs Interview

The Godbombs who hail from NY, are a fresh breath of the industrial scene adding and fusing in other genres. They opened tonight for Ministry and being the first time that I have seen this band live, they put on a hell of a show. Killer music with a raspy vocals and theatrics, The Godbombs are doing it. Empire Extreme got to talk to The Godbombs Andy asked them a few questions.

How you came up with the name godbombs?
The God Bombs signifies creation and destruction. Sometimes through destroying everything you know, you can achieve a kind of rebirth.

How’s it like to bring back old school industrial music?
We appreciate people perceiving us in that way. More than anything, we are inspired by the SPIRIT of old school industrial music. We hope to continue push our sound and live performance into new uncharted territories.

Your EP is out, any plans for a full length release?
We are looking to expand ‘HEX‘ into a full blown album with more than double the amount of songs, and possibly release as a two disc set with the other disc focusing on covers and alternate versions. Our covers of The Cure “Killing an Arab” and Ministry “Flashback“, which proved to be very popular on the Amerikkkant Tour, will be included on disc two.

How’s it been like to be touring with Ministry?
Touring with Ministry was a dream come true. Ministry is one of the innovators in terms of merging punk/metal with electronic music and is very much an influence for us. We never thought we’d share the stage with them night after night! It was truly rewarding, and their fans were extremely supportive and appreciative! We hope those who discovered us will follow us on the next phase of our journey!

How’s the NY scene for your type of music ?
NYC is tough nowadays. A lot of the alternative culture has been driven out by raising rent prices and an influx of “yuppies” from elsewhere who stick mainly to Top 40 or mainstream trends. That being said there are some great promoters here, keeping the scene alive and bringing in fresh faces. I would say overall NYC was a supportive place for us to get our start.

The Yagas are a new rock band fronted by actress Vera Farmiga and her husband Renn Hawkey (of Deadsy ).

The album Midnight Minuet just debuted and it’s an amazingly haunted and beautiful journey throughout many emotions. 10 songs that doesn’t label itself to any genre.

Empire Extreme got to talk to Renn about the album, its creation and life within music, art and film.
