It’s that time again, for some fun, some heat and some Zombie. Bringing along with the ride is Alice Cooper, Ministry and Filter. 

Filter opened up and it’s been a while since I’ve seen the band play. Richard now with his gray hair is looking much more like his brother Robert aka T2000. Of course when you go see Filter play you’re going to hear “Hey Man, Nice Shot”, but it was also great to hear “Trip Like I Do”, and “Take a Picture”. Filter opened up the show with a kick ass performance and got the crowd pumped for more. 

Ministry was up next and I was super excited to see them during the daylight to get some amazing photos of Al Jourgensen. Ministry opened up their set with 3 songs off the latest album HOPIUMFORTHEMASSES with “B.D.E.” , “Goddamn white trash” and “just stop oil” but of course we got to hear some classics like “Thieves”, “Stigmata” and “Jesus Built My Hotrod”. Ministry put on an amazing show and I heard people in the crowd that haven’t seen them yet say they enjoyed them and will go see them again. 

Next up was The Prince of Darkness himself Mr. Alice Cooper. If you haven’t had the chance to see the Coops yet you’re missing out his puts on a hell of a show every night and still looks and sounds amazing . There is a reason almost every theatrical band has said that Alice was an inspiration for them. Not only is Alice amazing but his band is stellar. Guitarist Ryan Roxie and Tommy Henrisken are stellar with Nita Strauss bringing that extra bad ass to them and beauty. Bassist Chuck Garric is always fun to watch and is such a great guy and drummer Glen Sobel is a beast on those drums and I love that Alice Cooper’s wife Sheryl still comes out on stage to execute him. We get to hear amazing songs like “No more Mr nice guy”, “Hey Stoopid” “Poison” “Feed My Frankenstein” and even got to hear “Snakebite” which Cooper had his beloved snake wrapped around him while he sang the song. 

Rob Zombie was the headliner and I was excited to see the return of Riggs and Blasko to the band since the early 2000s. Rob always put on a hell of a show with amazing sets and video screens everywhere and fire, balloons and even some raining sparklers (which he did on the 2nd song while we were still in the photo pit for). It’s always tough to photograph zombie and jiffy lube because it’s a higher stage than most and then adding all the props and ego-boxes makes it tough but fun.  Zombie played 4 songs of Hellbilly Deluxe, 3 from sinister urge and a few new ones but as always he played some white zombie with “Thunder Kiss” and “More Human”. 

Rob always puts on a hell of a show it’s a fun rock and roll party. With this lineup this year it’s such a great tour.

It was recently announced that Armored Saint will be replacing Death Angel on the tour. W.A.S.P. issued the following statement: “W.A.S.P. is pleased to announce that Armored Saint will now be joining the “Album One Alive” Fall 2024 U.S. Tour. Due to unforeseen circumstances, Death Angel will no longer be able to be a part of this tour. We all wish them the best going forward.”

Last night at the Fillmore in Silver Spring, MD, Marilyn Manson made his comeback, bringing with him The Funeral Portrait and Slaughter to Prevail.

The Funeral Portrait opened up and woke the crowd up with some fun and entertainment. I got to see TFP a while back when they toured with Davey Suicide, and this band is always fun to see. They have such energy on stage, and I love that they put a spin on pushing the boundaries. The lead singer with his priest outfit is always fun for those who are too uptight with their religious blasphemy (but then again, this is a Manson show).

Slaughter to Prevail from “Mother Russia” wrecked the Fillmore with their brutal music. Alex got the crowd hyped up like he always does with his insanely crazy growls and onstage antics. At one point, he called the crowd “Pussies” and told them to start a pit. The crowd surfers and moshers were loving some Slaughter to Prevail. It was interesting seeing them with a more pro-dominant goth crowd, but the fans of the band were there to support them and got the pits going and did the wall of death.

Marilyn Manson was headlining these sub dates on the tour with Five Finger Death Punch. It’s been a while since I’ve got to see Manson play, but while I was at the show, I realized that I first saw Manson 30 years ago in 1994 with Nine Inch Nails. Manson looked and sounded amazing. It was cool to see Piggy D (formerly of Rob Zombie) on bass and guitarist Reba Meyers of Code Orange as well.

Manson played a great set with songs spanning the band’s multi-decade career. They did not play anything from the band’s 1994 debut album, Portrait of an American Family, but played 3 songs off Antichrist Superstar: “Angel With the Scabbed Wings,” “Tourniquet,” and “Beautiful People.” He also threw in some Mechanical Animals songs like “Coma White,” “Great Big White World,” and “The Dope Show.” Manson opened up with “Cruci-Fiction in Space” off the Holy Wood album. We also got to hear the live debut of the newest single, “As Sick as the Secrets Within,” which sounded amazing.

The stage setup was awesome too, with many LED lights of the Manson logo, and he grabbed his light for “Sweet Dreams” and got to see him wear a few of his hats. I do miss the full crazy stage shows he did back in the day, but then again, those cost him so much money. The show was sold out, and I heard that there were over 100 people who bought the meet n greet.

It’s great to see Marilyn Manson back on stage, and like I said earlier, he looks amazing and sounds great too. I feel that time off for a while did him really solid. I hope that this new music brings Manson back into the main fold again so we can get to see him play many times more. If you get a chance to see him on tour with Five Finger Death Punch or one of his headlining shows, I recommend you go and check him out.
