Interview with Moriah Formica of Plush
Empire Extreme got to talk to singer Moriah Formica of Plush about her recent tour with Slash/Myles Kennedy and the upcoming tour with Sevendust.
EE: Today is April fools day, do you do anything for it?
Moriah: Not really, maybe little jokes here and there. It’s actually my grandmothers birthday so that’s what we normally do on this day.
EE: You just got done with the tour with Slash, how was doing that?
Moriah: That was so much fun honestly, I mean he’s a icon and Myles Kennedy voice is amazing. The whole band is just great.
EE: Yeah, I saw you guys when you came into Baltimore and was my first time and you guys kicked ass.
Moriah: Aww, thanks you so much.
EE: We had to shoot that show from the soundboard and not from the pit, and being so far away and all the tall fans right in the front, made it so difficult to get photos of you sometimes, didn’t realize how tiny you were.
Moriah: People are always like you’re really short in person.
EE: You guys played the Barracuda cover, that was amazing.
Moriah: Thank you, we love doing that song live, for us it’s the turning point of the show. Most fans don’t know our music but when they hear that song they get excited and then the rest of the show they get into it.
EE: Plush just put out an album how was recording that?
Moriah: It was really good, I’m just glad we got to share our music with the fans. Putting the album together was a smooth process. We would write in the studio while we was in there recording other songs. We wrote “Athena” that way just right while we were in the studio.
EE: How was it like getting your start doing “The Voice”?
Moriah: The voice was a huge part of my life, it help to kickstart my career. I got to meet a lot of great people and met my best friend on that show. I got to find myself as an artist on that show. The best thing was the amount of exposure. It’s a great thing to start your career.
EE: If you could pick two bands to go on tour with, who would you want to go with?
Moriah: ohh man, I would love to go out with Evanescence and Halestorm. We went out with them before, but those two bands are my biggest heroes. Would love to go out with Korn, they are my all time favorite band.
EE: If you could bring back one dead musician, who would it be?
Moriah: That’s a tough one. I would say Prince. I loved him, he was honestly a one of a kind a once in a lifetime artist.
EE: You guys are about to go out with Sevendust, you looking forward to those shows?
Moriah: We went out with them once for a short run, like 4 shows and that was so much fun. I’m really glad we get to do a full tour with them. They are such a high energy band and I love that. I can’t wait to do those shows.
EE: Any other shows that you’re doing?
Moriah: Yeah we are playing Welcome to Rockville right after that, we are also on Louder Than Life and AfterShock. We are working on getting over to Europe hopefully.
